The family-run establishment Hotel Johannesberg, situated on the peaceful outskirts of the town of Bad Hersfeld, has a real sense of tradition.

In this oasis of calm you can escape and recover from everyday life. With its densely forested surroundings and high altitude (373 metres above sea level) Johannesberg's endearing location guarantees much more than just fresh air.

You will find marked circular hiking trails, which encourage you to linger awhile, as well as glorious panoramic views reaching far into the lowlands of Maintal.

Numerous sights in direct proximity of the hotel are worth a visit: The City Museum of Bad Hersfeld, for instance, the "Kapitel Ballroom" of the old monastery, or the hulk of the old Cathedral "Stiftskirche" in the western part of the old town. The Stiftskirche is considered to be the oldest church hulk in Germany. Today, it is being used as setting for the International Bad Hersfeld Festival. In the monastery district you find further the "Katharinen Tower", which houses the oldest church bell of Germany, the so-called “Lullus Bell”.
